Welcome.
It takes tremendous courage to seek help, and you are taking the first step toward receiving support and your journey of healing.
Counseling Services
I provide individual counseling to adults in Charlottesville and Arlington, offering both in-person and telehealth sessions.
My approach is kind, collaborative, eclectic, integrative, and active in nature. I draw upon theory and technique from several approaches and models including, but not limited to, acceptance and commitment therapy, family systems theory, strengths-based therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed therapy.
Counseling Groups
Groups are held throughout the year depending upon need. Sometimes the group is offered in-person and sometimes through a virtual format, depending upon interest. Groups are typically 6-8 weeks, and each group meeting is 1.5 hours. Please contact me for more information and to be placed on a waiting list.

About Me.
Claudia Lineweaver, PhD, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD from the University of Virginia, and for nearly 25 years, it has been my honor to walk alongside individuals as they navigate some of life’s most challenging and meaningful moments.
Before relocating to the Charlottesville area, I founded and operated Northern Virginia Counseling, where I was fortunate to support clients as they worked toward healing, significant change, and greater balance in their lives. I also served as adjunct faculty at George Washington University. I hold an advanced certification in trauma treatment and am a Certified Grief Educator, trained by internationally recognized grief expert David Kessler. I currently volunteer as a moderator with his Tender Hearts program, offering support and connection to individuals navigating grief and loss.
At the heart of my private practice is a deep belief in the healing power of relationships. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative space where clients feel seen, understood, and not alone. I work with individuals navigating relationship challenges, difficult breakups, divorce, grief and loss, family conflict, parenting and caregiving stress, and major life transitions. I am especially drawn to working with those who feel pressure to “do it all” and are seeking greater balance, self-compassion, and more meaningful connection.
Outside of my work, I enjoy being outdoors and watching sports—especially when one of my children is playing. I value connection and time with my family, and I bring that same sense of warmth, curiosity, and genuine care into the therapeutic relationships I build with my clients.
I am grateful to share that I have expanded my practice to include an office location in Arlington, which allows me to continue supporting and staying connected to the communities I value deeply.
